Recruitment: Referee Information Form
If you are applying for a job with Young Life International you will need to provide the names and contact details of two people who are willing to act as a referee for you.
We collect this information in Operoo as it allows us to automate the emails we send to your referee when we request your references - this speeds up the recruitment process and means we can make recruitment decisions more quickly.
Once you submit this form, an automated email will be sent to your referees explaining that you have a applied for a role with YLI - we reference the YLI website and confirm the role you have applied for. We explain that you have provided us with their details in order that they might provide a character reference for you. They then have a link to a further form on Operoo where they can either complete the questions or select 'I cannot provide a reference at this time'.
We will be notified when your references are returned and they will be shared with the Hiring Manager for the role you are applying for.
We strongly recommend that you communicate with your referees before adding their contact details to this form. We also recommend that you let them know to keep a look out for an email from YLI (through Operoo). We have provided some text you could use to frame this conversation:
I have applied for a job with Young Life International (YLI). As part of that recruitment process I have to provide contact details for two people who might be willing to write a reference for me. Would you consider being one of those people?
YLI have told me that once I provide your details to them you will receive an email request with a link to the reference form on it, that email will come from Operoo - the software they use to manage references. If you're happy to be my referee, please keep a look out for this email - it is is possible it will go to your junk mail folder, especially if you use a Hotmail address.
Who can be a referee?
The short answer is anyone who knows you well. However, there are some exceptions.
Your referees cannot be family members and only one of them can be an existing YLI member of staff or volunteer. If you are currently working then we would recommend you include your current supervisor or someone from the management team.
