Teaching Post - Job Application Form

St Piran's School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  All successful applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening including checks with current and/or previous employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service

If you are short-listed for interview you will be required to complete a self-declaration of your criminal record or information that would make you unsuitable for working with children.

Please note that it is an offence under the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006 to apply for the role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.

All roles at St Piran's constitute regulated activity and all posts are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.  The School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.

Thank you for your interest in joining the team at St Piran’s.  In order to assist both you and us in the recruitment process please ensure that you read the following documents which are available on the Vacancies and Policies pages of our website:

-      Relevant Job Description with Person Specification (website)

-      Recruitment and Selection Policy (Policies | St Piran's School | St Pirans)

Safeguarding

If you are appointed, you will be required to undertake an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Having a criminal record will not necessarily prevent you from taking up appointment; it will depend on the nature of the offences and their relevance to the post you are applying for. However, should you NOT declare an unprotected offence that is subsequently revealed, e.g. through the DBS check, then this may place your appointment in jeopardy, or once employed, may lead to your summary dismissal.
